Volunteers of America: Every week day at 11:00 SWIC and VOA offer a free hot lunch to seniors over the age of 60. Guests are welcome for a fee of $5.00. For more information about senior lunch, contact Jane Haan, Dining Center Coordinator at SWIC: 720-364-8225.

Visiting Nurse Association: The VNA Holds Senior Wellness Clinic programs on the third Wednesday of every month from 8:30am to 11:30am at SWIC in the Cottonwood Room ("Senior Lounge"). For more information about the monthly visits, contact SWIC at 303-922-2928. www.vnacolorado.org

Denver Urban Gardens: SWIC and DUG partnered in 1999 to build the Garden of Hope (also known as the All Nations Community Garden) across the street from SWIC at 999 S. ThaMyx International: ThaMyx sponsors a program at SWIC called Lifeline. Lifeline reaches out to the at-risk youth in our city. Individuals can be court-ordered or referred. Come check out Lifeline every Thursday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Anyone around age 14 to 24 can join in on the activities which include: Music Production & Drama from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, Hoops N Raps (hiphop, breakdance, and basketball) from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Art Class from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Denver Public Schools STAR Program: STAR stands for "Students Transitioning to Adult Resources." This program is for DPS students who are 18-21 years old. STAR addresses students functional life skills through community experiences, vocational support, and direct instruction in a community-based class in an effort to help students become as independent as possible. STAR classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00am to noon. STAR Program volunteers are an important asset at SWIC. Rocky Mountain Micro Finance Institute: RMMFI is a nonprofit organization serving the needs of community entrepreneurs to foster growth within Denver communities. RMMFIs brand of microfinance combines affordable and accessible business development services and flexible microloans in an effort to support an entrepreneur in creating economic self-sufficiency through business ownership. RMMFI is offering classes at SWIC once a month in English and Spanish. The next RMMFI class is July 29, 2010 in Eagle Bear Hall. For more dates, check the SWIC events calendar. Operation Frontline: Professional chefs and nutritionists volunteer their time and expertise to lead hands-on courses instructing teens, adults, and kids living on a low-income how to get the most nutrition out of a limited budget. Operation Frontline offers 6 different programs for children and adults. Beginning in July, Operation Frontline and SWIC are offering a six-week cooking course for children to work together creating a healthy meal. At the end of each class, participants take home the groceries required to make that meal. Riverside Soccer Club: In the Spring of 2010, Riverside Soccer Club hosted a food drive for SWIC’s weekly food distributions.

LiveWell Westwood: LiveWell Westwood is a community initiative of LiveWell Colorado, a state-wide program dedicated to increasing healthy eating and active living. Mountain View Church: Every Monday night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm starting in September, Mountain View is offering a free AWANA program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. They provide a safe environment with games, music, food, and prizes to help children grow. Every Monday at 5:00pm Mountain View is also hosting a free community dinner at SWIC for all participating children and their families. United States Census: SWIC hosted Census Testing on Fridays throughout February and March 2010 and is a resource for anyone interested in working for the U.S. Census. For more information, call SWIC at 303-922-2928.

Sisters of Color United for Education: SOCUE is offering free HIV/STD/Pregnancy Testing at SWIC every Friday from 11:00am to 3:00pm. http://sistersofcolorunited.org/

Urban Farming: Urban Farming is a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to creating an abundance of food for people in need by planting gardens on used land and space. In June 2010, Urban Farming and SWIC partnered to build “Garden Home,” a new urban garden at 3401 W. Tennessee in Westwood.
